The raids are an absolutely terrible idea. That's all I've got to say about them at this point in time. Let me instead talk about the lucky gentleman who's being allowed out of the country. First the soccer team, now business man Arthur Tombough -- I hope this means our great country is going to open her borders again soon.

Friday marks the 20th anniversary of a musical legend's passing. I'm speaking of Michael Jackson, of course. R.I.P. As the most successful entertainer of all time, my nephew and I thought it was only right to host a shindig in his honor.
Most of you are welcome. I'm not giving out our address publicly -- my mother would be so proud of my Internet safety skills -- but I'll give directions to anyone who's interested. So if you're a fan of the King of Pop, or free food, sparkly white gloves, and partying, let me know.

[The picture starts dark and shaky. A light is flipped on, and the viewer can see a white folding chair in front of a dozen paintings, give or take, all in varying states of completion. There's a pause, then Salem appears from behind the camera and sits on the chair. He's wearing all black, from his jacket to his Chucks, a stark contrast to the color behind him. He looks tired and annoyed as he rubs the stubble on his chin.]
I try to respect the police. I try to understand why the city is putting us through all of this nonsense.
[He leans back in his chair, sighing and crossing his arms.]
But I am currently failing at doing either of those things. My family and I were lucky enough not to have the police come in and inflict gratuitous violence on us or our home, but I've seen enough to know that this is bullshit. This is hatred, this is prejudice. If you aren't an American, if you don't look like you're supposed to -- then what, you don't get the basic right of not being brutalized by the police? How is that fair? How is that the goddamn American way?
I know I'm not saying anything new and illuminating, but I'm tired of my city -- our city -- being turned into a genuinely terrible place to live. I'm tired of the hatred, ignorance, and bigotry.
[He uncrosses his arms, tucking his hands into his jacket pockets. He stands.]
Aren't you?
[The video ends.]

Found this looking through some older work:
( Cut for image! )
I barely remember doing it, but it looks like charcoal, marker and watercolor. That or I spilled on it. I'm surprised I never really finished it. I've gotten a lot better with faces, I think. At least different.
[...]
I can't believe I'm blogging like this. About inconsequential shit like art I never finished. Art with a lost meaning, at least lost on me - which is the worst part, because I fucking did it. The meaning should be obvious. Jesus. Distress, fucking church. But that's not it.
I haven't taken to the streets (as it were) in a while. I feel stuck drawing flowers and painting over military figures that took me hours to detail. Maybe I do need to get out there, paint the town red - again, as it were. Just need to do something. Stuck doing filler art, stuck answering obvious questions for irate customers.
What is wrong with me?

Just finished a painting. I was surprised with how quickly I completed it. Not sure if I like
Anybody else around here paint? Or do any kind of art?
